The Town House Restaurant was one of Anderson’s oldest and finest restaurants and is located in historic downtown Anderson. When the building was first built it was owned by a Mr. Osteen and was the first movie theater in Anderson. Entertaining the people with silent movies until 1930, the building was converted to the Elite Restaurant. Shortly afterwards it was called The Towne House and has been ever since. The restaurant was bought by its present owners and underwent a major renovation in 2000 to create the beautiful gem that it is today. The charm of The Town House Restaurant begins at first sight. The cast iron sign out front beckons to days past while indicating the modern flair with which its diners were familiar with. The inviting dining room has plenty of seating in comfy booths, tables with plush chairs or at the beautifully redone circular bar area. Twenty foot ceilings with hanging chandeliers add to the turn of the century décor. The building is a registered historical landmark that is more than a century old.
